Wednesday afternoon we had an awesome Black History Month assembly with a panel of guests who provided our students with encouragement to always be successful and to not consider any other option. Our guests were the Hollins Family who represented achievements in the Olympics, in education, and in sports. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions of our guest. Reverend Childs, who coordinated the assembly, spent the last 10 minutes encouraging students to understand success in terms of how Christ has already determined our success through His work on the cross. He also discussed how God has a plan for our lives. In all, Wednesday was an awesome day for students and teachers alike.
Lutheran East students also had the opportunity to attend a play with Mrs. Chiles called Breath and Imagination on Friday. This play tells the story of Roland Hayes, one of the world's most renowned tenors. The field trip was a success as the upperclassmen enjoyed time learning about live theatre, an often overlooked historical figure, and were able to spend time together as a group.
