Schola Cantorum to Perform in NYC
Lutheran High School East is proud to announce that its Schola Cantorum, a select group within the Lutheran East Gospel Choir, has been invited to perform at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on Friday, October 18, 2019.

The morning of the performance, the Schola Cantorum will be giving a concert at Cristo Rey High School in New York City. They will then travel to St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Madison Avenue, where they will perform as part of the Cathedral’s Guest Choir Series. Following the performance, students will enjoy lunch and a tour of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and its grounds.

Regarding the upcoming trip, Choir Director Jonathon Turner states, “We’re all humbled and honored to be able to make this opportunity a reality for our talented student singers. Not only will they get to showcase their talents in a remarkable, world-renowned venue like St. Patrick’s, but they’ll be exposed to arts, culture, and history on the trip. I’m sure it will be an experience they’ll remember forever.”

To add to their experience, Lutheran East administration has planned for the students and chaperones to arrive on Thursday, October 17, when they will check into their hotel, visit Times Square, tour The Juilliard School and attend a Broadway performance. On Saturday the 19th, the group will tour the Statue of Liberty prior to making the trip back to Cleveland Heights.

Those who may be interested in making a financial contribution to help finance the trip and the student experiences the school hopes to provide (Broadway show(s), tours, etc.) are encouraged to do so online at LutheranEast.org (“Donate Now” button).

Mr. Turner will share photos from the trip on Lutheran East’s social media pages during the three-day trip.
