Students Attend Lange Leadership Conference at Valparaiso University

Leadership. It’s such a full word, isn’t it? It’s full of promise for tomorrow and hope for the future. It’s full of opportunity and optimism, and at the same time it’s full of questions about who those leaders will be and the type of future they will shape. Are we full of optimism about what tomorrow will bring? I think we can be and, in fact, we should be optimistic about what’s to come! My hope in tomorrow was recently affirmed when I witnessed some of our students developing their leadership skills and abilities at the Lange Leadership Conference hosted earlier this year by Valparaiso University.

The Lange Leadership Conference brought together 30 student leaders from Lutheran high schools throughout the Midwest including Lutheran East’s own Makayla Brown, Kymberly Payne, and Datwan Claytor. These promising leaders were immersed in three intense days of practical leadership training which culminated with a service event where our students put into practice the skills they had learned by helping others.

It was great to see our students grow in leadership and bring those skills back to Cleveland Heights and to Lutheran East. It is even better knowing that they’re learning how Christ-like service is a vital component of leadership. It’s a full word, isn’t it?

-Mr.Prusinski, Dean of Students
