Falcons Come Up Big on the Road with 32-0 win!
Falcons Come Up Big on the Road with 32-0 win!The Lutheran East Falcons notched their first W on Friday, by knocking off a tough Collinwood team. After a bizarre delayed start, the Falcons looked even more refreshed by running away with a 32-0 victory.

Coming out hot in the first quarter, the rushing attack of Kaylin Heard, Mark Churchill, and Carlton Hoey would prove to be too much for the Railroaders. Heard ran for a 50 yard touchdown on the very first possession. After an excellent defensive goalline stop with their backs against the wall, the Falcons orchestrated a 99 yard touchdown drive to finish the first quarter. It was capped off by a Heard touchdown pass of 42 yards to Rodney Paradise.
In the second, it was much of the same- a heavy dose of rushing behind a much improved offensive line. Following Marquise Goodlett, Devon Devezin, Tre Boyd, Anthony Durham, Martell Thomas and Tayvon Bland, the team was able to gain 323 yards on the ground Friday night. Heard found his second touchdown pass on the evening by flipping a shovel pass to Will Hartson for an 11 yard score. Heard punched in the 2 point conversion (where he was 4 for 4) and the Falcons led at break 24-0.
The defense played to their potential throughout the night but was most impressive in the third quarter. Collinwood controlled field position and took the ball from the Falcons offense each time, but the bend but not break defense stepped up to the challenge. Collinwood had 3 opportunities in the red zone, but came away with 0 points as the Falcons dug in to fight off any threat. Leading the way on defense were Paradise with 9.5 tackles and 1 sack, Durham with 5.5 tackles and 3 hurries, and freshman Daeshawn David with 6.5 tackles and 1 sack.
Lutheran East closed out the game with a late score by Churchill, plunging in for an 8 yard touchdown run in the fourth. He finished the night with 85 yards on 12 carries, while Heard led with 166 yards on 16 carries. The Falcons recipe of controlling the clock and applying defensive pressure took the Railroaders from making big plays, and Lutheran East walked away with the 32-0 win. It was a complete team effort and a great way to get in the win column!
