Alumni Spotlight - Micah Wells, Class of 2007
Alumni Spotlight - Micah Wells, Class of 2007

The alumni of Lutheran East bring great pride to our school!   Not only are our alumni making an impact in the communities of Northeast Ohio, but also across our country, including our nation’s capital.   One such individual is Dr. Micah Wells, Class of 2007.   Upon graduation, Micah attended Tennessee State University (Nashville, TN) where he received his Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Therapeutic Studies.  While in school, Micah was on the Dean’s List for academic excellence; he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  in the Spring of 2009; he was a member of Golden Key International Honor Society; and a member of the Collegiate 100 Black Men.

Our new Alumni Director, Anthony Jones, had the privilege of conducting a short interview with Dr. Wells, and here is a short question and answer session of the interview.

Q: What are your career goals?

A: My career aspirations are to work as a head physical therapist for a professional team in the National Basketball Association. I would hope to work in their sports performance department and one day open my own physical therapy practice where I would concentrate on sports and orthopedic injuries. Outside of physical therapy, I want to become a motivational speaker and start a non-profit organization that focuses on mentoring inner city/at-risk youth.

Q: What is your favorite Lutheran East memory?

A: I have so many memories to choose from but nothing compares to the memories of graduating with honors from LE and being a member of the 2005 LE basketball team that embarked on a special journey down to Columbus, for the state championship.

Q: How Did Lutheran East prepare you for college?

A: Lutheran East prepared me for my career by teaching me discipline, patience, perseverance through adversity, and how to work hard for everything I wanted.

Q: Was there any teacher that made a special impact on you while at LE?

A: One teacher that comes to mind is Mr. Steinmann. He was my religion teacher at the time. He made learning very interesting and innovative in a way that my classmates and I were able to understand key concepts that were presented in the Bible. Even after my matriculation at LE, Mr. Steinmann and I kept in touch during my first two years of college. I always knew if I had questions, Mr. Steinmann would be available for me. I really appreciated that.

Q: What is your favorite Bible verse?

A: 2 Timothy 1:7

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: "It's when we forget ourselves that we do things that DESERVE to be remembered"- Philosopher Charles D. Montesquieu

After graduating from Tennessee State University in 2011, Micah moved on to attend graduate school at Howard University (Washington, DC) where he received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) in 2014. While at Howard, he was a member of the American Physical Therapy and the National Strength & Conditioning Association.

Micah’s background is in outpatient Sports and Orthopedic Rehabilitation.  He is certified in Mental Health First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and is currently working as a physical therapist within the D.C. area.

Lutheran High School East is proud of Dr. Micah Wells and all of his accomplishments!  We are thrilled that he is an alumnus of our institution and wish him all the best on his future endeavors!
